One of the best parts of building a new home is having the opportunity to put your personal touch on nearly every aspect, from design to decorating. Landscaping is one piece of new home design that allows homeowners to express their unique style and vision. At Seiler’s, we often help new homeowners create beautiful surroundings. Recently we had the privilege of working with a local family, the Steins, to realize their new home landscaping vision.
The Steins had not previously worked with Seiler’s Landscaping but were referred to us by Christopher Robin Homes. “When we met, I was absolutely sure they were the right company for us,” said Mark Stein. “The sincerity and knowledge that the office manager Anna displayed was refreshing. She listened and listened well. She couldn’t have made it any easier for us.”
The Vision
When it came to the landscaping for their new home, the Steins were pretty open minded and had only a few special requests. “With off white being the primary house color, we wanted some reds and purples in the plantings, thinking that would pop with a white background. All I requested was a maple tree for the front yard,” Mark said. The Steins were also hoping for low-maintenance plants, saying, “That was a high priority for us. Anna used plants we haven’t historically used that are lower maintenance than we expected.”
Starting from Scratch
We were excited to anchor the Steins’ new home to its site with creativity and expertise. “Anna did an amazing job. She drew the landscape ideas around the house plan we provided her when we met at the property. As the house was taking shape Anna and Will Seiler came back to the property and stood in the rooms so they could visualize what we would see outside once the house was complete. She adjusted some of the planting based on that. All of the plants are her suggestions and she provided great reasoning for every plant.”
The Steins have found lots to love about their new home landscaping. “It is hard to pick a favorite part,” Mark said. “I will say the exterior lighting is fantastic. It’s just right and not overdone.”
