Employee Spotlight: Monica Riordan

Our Landscape Design and Sales Associate, Monica Riordan, is an integral part of our team. Her typical day at Seiler’s is never typical! On any given day Monica could be communicating with clients about their landscape projects, measuring sites, creating drawings and proposals, meeting with our production manager on jobsites to discuss aspects of a potential project, stopping at jobs currently in production to see how they are going and help with plant layout, troubleshooting and more!

Monica first became interested in landscaping when she moved back to Cincinnati after graduating from Tulane in New Orleans with a sociology degree. She moved into her first home with a yard where she discovered she loves to garden and plant flowers. She decided to go back to school for horticulture at Cincinnati State and then the University of Cincinnati to learn the art of landscape design. She has been designing landscapes in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky for the last 19 years. A true pro!

Monica’s favorite part about working at Seiler’s is our experienced team. She says the different perspectives “have helped me grow as a landscape professional.” She enjoys getting to be creative every day and share her expertise with her clients to create beautiful outdoor spaces.

Outside of Seiler’s, Monica and her family love going on outings with friends around Cincinnati, to places like the zoo, Krohns Conservatory, Washington Park and Summit Park. Findlay Market on Sundays is a favorite outing to buy groceries from local farmers and shops. They also enjoy having family movie night and taking their goofy pup, Buster, to the dog park, on walks and snuggling with him on the couch. Monica has an extensive personal garden where she likes to test out shrubs, trees and perennials, grow veggies (garlic is her newest addition) and herbs, as well as plant a lot of summer annuals in beds, pots and hanging baskets.
