For her family’s new Cincinnati home, Caren Laverty had a specific vision: She wanted a place to host friends for poolside wine tastings and social get-togethers. With her vision in mind, Caren instinctively reached out to Seiler's Landscaping. She had been pleased with their work in creating outdoor spaces before, and this is actually the second time she's hired them—this time for her new home.
Working with Seiler’s, the Lavertys tackled a multi-stage outdoor project that involved landscaping, getting rid of unwanted bushes, adding a paver patio, sprucing up the pool area and installing a stylish pergola trellis. The backyard makeover completely transformed the outdoor space into a more enjoyable and upgraded area for entertainment.
The Lavertys were excited about this new home project after working with Seiler’s Landscaping on a previous house. With positive experiences in the past, the couple knew they could trust Seiler’s to bring their vision to life.
A Vision Transformed
When creating this modern landscape design, Seiler’s designers took the family’s goals and added creativity to bring their vision to life. Reflecting on the owners’ personalities and passions was a top design consideration. With a pool already in place and a vast space to work with, there was much room for creativity.
Seiler's incorporated a modern landscape design to expand the yard’s entertainment options for wine tastings and lively parties. The designer’s goal was for the new hardscaping and plantings to appear as if they had always been there, and to include a natural, organic look. With all these requests, Seiler’s designer Darren Shick created a personalized landscape.

Designing the Dream
Darren, the visionary designer who was at the helm of this remarkable transformation, took into account the Laverty family’s aspirations and tastes. In the end, he wove a modern landscape design that exceeded the family’s expectations.
The comprehensive plan had many steps that entailed the removal of towering Taxus bushes, strategic landscaping and an outdoor lighting strategy. Additions included a paver patio installation, a retaining wall addition and a beautiful wooden pergola on top of the newly installed patio to enhance the landscape and add visual height. The expansions allowed for seating, entertaining and admiring the beautiful yard.
